Analyzing the left

Recently I sent information to a Democrat I know regarding Obama’s recent selection of Rahm Emanuel as his new Chief of Staff.  The intent was to gauge the reaction of this Democrat once this person learned that Emanuel had served on Freddie Mac’s GSE (Government Sponsored Enterprises) board from 2000-2002.  (http://www.businessandmedia.org/articles/2008/20081106133228.aspx)  Before I outline this Democrats reaction, please allow me to briefly explain the GSE.

The Federal National Mortgage Association, named Fannie Mae, and the Federal Home Mortgage Corporation, named Freddie Mac, have operated since 1968 as government sponsored enterprises (GSEs). This means that, although the two companies are privately owned and operated by shareholders, they are protected financially by the support of the Federal Government.

Obama ran his 2008 Presidential campaign on “Hope and Change,” however; he decided to place his trust in Emanuel, a former associate of Freddie Mac.  Please also remember that Obama has ties to Franklin Raines (former CEO of Fannie Mae) and Jim Johnson (former chairman of Fannie Mae, who also was head of Obama’s VP search).  (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,423701,00.htm).

So, let’s loop back to my original question.  What type of rebuttal would the left leaning Democrat respond with regarding news that Obama had appointed a former Freddie Mac GSE board member?  The response was to immediately look backward on President George W. Bush.  The actual response, “and Bush did such a great job with the economy for 8 years.”

And so, with this response, I have prepared myself for the Obama Presidency to be filled with Democratic excuses and Bush blaming for everything that goes wrong under Obama.

1. If terrorism strikes this country, the Democratic response will be that Bush’s foreign policy cause angst in the international community.

2. If poverty strikes a majority of Americans because of Obama’s wealth redistribution program, it’s because Bush severely hurt our economy as President.

Sadly, modern day Democrats remind me of adolescents.  They pout when they don’t get their way (see the 2000 Presidential Election that was “stolen” from them), they take for granted that what our Country has (see Freedom and any “peace” march the Democrats or Code Pink stage), and they base their opinions on what is popular at the time (see John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, or any Democrat).

It’s up to the Republicans to be the adults in this relationship.  And for the next four years, we are going to have our hands full!
