Tim Geithner Unionizes the Penny

By Caomhin

It’s a known fact that if the Obama Administration had their way, everyone and everything would be associated with the union.  Another prime example of this is Obama’s moronic decision to put SEIU chief Andy Stern on his “National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform.” This is another example of cronyism by Obama (an extremely transparent one), Stern has no reason to be on this panel at all.  Then again, Obama is the tool for creating this “panel” anyway.  The whole purpose of this dog and pony show is for Obama to try and get political cover when he raises taxes on every single American.  If Obama wanted fiscal responsibility he wouldn’t need a commission, he’d need common sense, don’t spend more than you have.  He can’t be that stupid so I’ll chalk it up his being dishonest.

Back to the headline of this post.  I suppose this flew under the radar, but like I said, Obama would love nothing more than for everyone and everything to be associated with the union.   By the way did you know that the penny was re-designed:

The penny’s new reverse side features a union shield with 13 vertical stripes and a scroll draped across reading “One Cent.” (Check your nearest couch cushion and you’ll see the old penny portrays the Lincoln Memorial.) The Web site of the U.S. Mint explains that the stripes represent the 13 original states and the banner signifies “a single union in support of the federal government.” The new penny’s front face will continue to illustrate President Lincoln, designed by American sculptor Victor David Brenner back in 1909.

Here’s the new penny:

Now I know the Union Shield has been around a long time and does not necessarily simply Union Labor, but knowing what we know about this administration and their feelings toward labor unions, consider this:

In case you can’t read the lower portion of the above picture it’ says “Affiliated with AFL-CIO.”
